Criteria

First things first:

  • You have to be 18 years old or older to apply.
  • You have to be the webmaster or webmistress of the submitted website.
  • Your website has to be concrete or steel related, in any way possible.
  • Your website has to be written in English or French.
  • Your website must be, in some way, related to art or creation. Most disqualifications occurs because of this.
    (If the link is not clear, explain your thought in the "comment" section of the application form.)

Now, as you will see, my criteria are quite wide and open. Personnally, I don't like criterion like "No more than two animated gifs per page". I mean, this doesn't make any sense; it depends on the page and the gifs, so there is no such criterion here. I'd rather set some guidelines in two main sections: what I like (what could make you win), and what I don't like (what could make you lose).
I will not look in your html code to check everything, and I won't visit your site with different browser (I use Internet Explorer 6). Despite this fact, my award isn't so easy to win.

What I like:

Presentation:

  • Style! You should try to find and give a style to your website.
  • Good layout and presentation.
  • Nice and clear graphics (even better if they are yours! If not, give credit!)
  • ALT tags are welcomed.
  • Consistency through your pages.

Content:

  • Your site should fit in one (or more) of the categories stated on the home page. I won't award a website dedicated to pets for example.
  • I like FREE websites!
  • Of course, good content (at least a few pages of original content).
  • Some useful, funny or cool stuff is welcomed.
  • A place (page or section) where you display your awards.

Navigation:

  • Easy and clear navigation. (this includes things like no use of the "Back" button, easy access to different part of the website ans so on.)
  • Your pages should load reasonnably fast.

What I don't like:

  • No disclaimer (if necessary)
  • No children protection (if necessary)
  • Gore, racist, pornographic or hateful websites (Artistic nudity is ok. I decide what I would award or not.)
  • Too much ads, and pop-up.
  • No recent update.
  • My browser crashes, or says there are some errors.
  • Broken images.
  • Broken links.
  • Your frameset doesn't work correctly.
  • Page under construction (you can build your page on your computer, and upload it when it is finished).
